Express Yourself!

The way you dress, cut your hair, even cut your lawn can tell someone about you!  Do you cut your lawn horizontally and then cut it on the diagonal?  Probably excessive compulsive like me!  Want everything to look just so.  You do it too, don't you?!  Well, you can express yourself in the way your decorate your house as well.  Why not start at the front door?

You know how I feel about red doors if you've read this blog or visited my website, www.HuskerDreamHomes.com.  Red doors are a sign of welcome.  Red doors help set your home apart from all the others.  Some of you have been afraid to take that leap of faith and paint your front door red.  Well, you haven't seen anything yet.  There are yet other colors to use to express yourself.

Blue represents water and abundance.

Having a blue front door is soothing because blue is often associated with the sky and crisp refreshing water. If you want your home’s curb appeal to suggest a feeling of abundance and prosperity, a blue front door is a good choice for your home.

A green door also means prosperity because it is the same color as dollar bill currency in the United States. Some people may paint their front door green to attract and humbly celebrate wealth. In some cultures a green front door represents growth because of it is the shade of green plants in nature.

A green exterior door can signify safety. This meaning for green is represented with the green signal  on a traffic light. It means that it is safe for a person to proceed into traffic. You can show others that your home is a safe haven by painting your front door green.

Whatever shade of green you use to paint your front door, choose one that goes along with the rest of your house. If your house’s exterior is a more muted color, choose a bold paint color for the front door. If the house itself makes a bold statement, a more subdued color green will work best in your front door. It is best not to be overpowering.

I have a good friend who LOVES purple.  She decorates with a lot of purple in her home, but I'll have to say, her front door isn't purple.  Maybe she should consider this.

A purple door represents wealth, honor and royalty. Having a purple front door lets others know that you are living a prosperous life. It does not necessarily mean that you are wealthy monetarily, but you are rich in your quality of life and wellbeing. You are also honorable.

When you paint your front door purple, you are telling people that you are open minded and versatile to life’s possibilities. You think outside the box.

If the shade of purple you choose for your door has some blue hues in it as well, this can bring a sense of calm and have a peaceful affect on your front door space.

So now that you know what a purple front door means, you can decide if you’d like to paint your front door purple. There are various shades of purple from a pale violet to a deep purple. Choose the shade of purple that best suites your personal curb appeal preferences and front door style.

Whatever color you choose, express yourself!  Paint is cheap!  You can always paint over it.  Live on the edge and then send me your front door pictures!  I'd love to see them! Jen@HuskerDreamHomes.com.
